Bra clasps, (female side), 136" x 40"

This large scale sculpture is made of many small identical pieces: the female side, u-shaped, hook of a bra strap. Taken out of context, and off the body, the material remains recognizable but transformed; the meaning of the textile object is shifted. As a group, the small pieces evoke a sense of togetherness, bound together by circumstance but choosing to act with a unified voice. The piece was made around the time of Christine Blasey Ford's testimony against Brett Kavanaugh, a critical moment for women across the country when solidarity was both necessary and natural.
